I have joined a 30-day Productivity Challenge and wanted to share my journey with you and invite you to join me. Click here – https://30dayproductivity.com – if you want to join me. I think that this could be a lot of fun, especially completing it as a community.

Today’s productivity challenge is to build a task management system. For anyone following along and reading my articles, you already know that I am using Notion as my task management system. So, today, I thought that I would share some of the changes that I have recently made to my task management system by including PARA in combination with Ben Bergeron’s productivity discussion on one of his podcasts.

In the PARA productivity system, “Areas” are fundamental categories that encompass different aspects of your life, responsibilities, and interests. These Areas serve as the backbone of your organizational structure. Each Area represents a specific domain or focus area, such as work, family, health, personal development, hobbies, or any other area that holds importance in your life.

Ben Bergeron is a prominent figure in the world of fitness, coaching, and personal development, known for his influential work and dedication to helping individuals achieve their highest potential. As the author of “Chasing Excellence,” Bergeron has gained widespread recognition for his insights into the mindset and strategies that drive success in both athletic endeavors and everyday life. His book, “Chasing Excellence,” is a testament to his expertise, offering readers a valuable roadmap to unlocking their full potential and pursuing excellence in all aspects of their lives. Bergeron’s unique blend of coaching wisdom, motivational guidance, and a deep understanding of human performance has made him a sought-after mentor and coach for athletes and individuals striving for greatness.

In one of his podcasts on productivity, Ben Bergeron talked about his Excellent Life Organizer that focused on five main categories: live, love, lead, learn, and leave a legacy. These resonated with me and I decided to use them as my areas for PARA. I felt like everyone’s areas are work, family, health, and so on and I wanted mine to be different, personal, and customized for me. Yet, I still have the same areas as everyone else. I think this is why I liked the 5 L’s.

For me, live means what I need to do to live well, mostly in the area of health. And love prioritizes those people in my life that I love and support. Lead focuses on professional areas while learn covers the things that I am doing to better myself intellectually. And legacy includes what I will be leaving behind for my children. Right now, the only tangible item (excepting personal possessions) encompasses my writing.

This means that I have certain tasks that I want to work towards every day in a snapshot. I still use the longer task list, projects, and everything else that I have already written about in my articles on Notion.

I know that this does not necessarily address the challenge for today, but I didn’t want to repeat information that I have provided in the past. Instead, I opted to share how Notion can evolve based on changes in your life or new information that you read or hear and want to put into practice.
